The Third Annual Dancing with the Starz event, hosted by the Owosso Community Players and the Shiawassee Arts Center, was held this past weekend (February 18-19) to a soldout crowd. Eleven local "stars" and their partners competed for the Judges' Award and the People's Choice Award. The dancing partners were Pam Carlson & Nick Frederick, James Full & Lisa Dexter, Dawn Reha & Eric Dexter, Jim Stechschulte & Emily Smith, Sara Edwards & Jake Remenec, Paul Kuhlman & Erica Bradley, Paula Alexander & Nick Frederick, Kari Selleck & Eric Dexter, Mike White & Deb McMillan, Tonia Schlaud & Jake Remenec and Tim Alderman & Kim Remenec. Paula Alexander, owner of Road's End Yoga, and her parnter were the People's Choice Award winners. They danced to the Charleston number Let's Misbehave. The Judges' Award was presented to Tim Alderman, owner of Alderman's Inc. of Lennon, and his partner Kim Remenec. They danced to The Devil Went Down to Georgia. Remenec, owner of Kim's Dance Dynamics choreographed and taught all the dancers in addition to dancing herself. Local attorney, Tom Dignan was Master of Ceremonies for the event. Judges were Karolyn Bohaty professional dance instructor, Cheryl Gapinski Corunna Music Director and Kevin Kregger, the 2011 People's Choice Award winner.
