The Second Annual Dancing with the Starz event, hosted by the Owosso Community Players and the Shiawassee Arts Center, was held February 19, 2011 at the Shiawassee Readiness Center in Corunna. A sold out crowd was entertained by eleven local "starz" and their partners dancing a variety of styles including Quickstep, Charleston, Cha Cha, Tango, Waltz and more. The "Starz" and their partners, George Braidwood & Lisa Dexter, Terry Bush & Eric Dexter, Rich Collins & Kim Remenec, Beth Johnson & Garrett Bradley, Pete Karsten & Linden Martin, Kevin Kregger & Samantha Chadwick, Mike Kruszkowski & Kayla Stewart, Lance Omer & Krystal Siminski, Sue Osika & Jake Remenec, Maggie Quinn & Jake Remenec, and Kim Renwick & Nick Frederick competed for the People's Choice Award and the Judges' Award. Judges for the event were Karolyn Bohaty, Carl Knipe and Dr. Fred Van Alstine, who was the 2010 People's Choice Award winner.

Kevin Kregger from Nelson-House Funeral Home was the People's Choice Award Winner. He and his partner danced a Hip Hop number to the fast-paced "Technologic." The Judges' Award was presented to Rich Collins, principal of the Owosso Middle School. He and his partner danced to the classic 1940's swing number, "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy." The dance instructor and choreographer for all the dancers and dances was Kim Remenec of Kim's Dance Dynamics in Owosso. Emcee for the evening was Owosso attorney, Tom Dignan. Showcase performers were students Laurel Hammis, Samantha Chadwick and Kayla Stewart, dance instructors Kim Remenec, Garrett Bradley and Linden Martin, and New York vocalist Robbistine Myles. The caterer was the Wrought Iron Grill, lighting provided by Rich Paul & Kari Riggio, DJ and sound by Ron Brooks & Nicky Anderson, photography by Lisa Bradley of Studio 22 Photography. Special recognition was given to SFC Jerod J. Lentini of the Shiawassee Readiness Center for his support of the event.

The committee included SAC director Piper Brewer, OCP director Linda Keenan, SAC staff members Terry Bush and Karen Friday, SAC board member Michael Kovich, OCP board member Kit Kuhlman, YMCA membership director Jamie Brummel, RESD teacher Pam Early, Chemical Bank officer Kim Renwick, and Kim Remenec.

Sponsors for the event were Celia's Corner Cafe, Chel-Mer, Chemical Bank, Mid-Michigan Monument, Nelson-House Funeral Home, Dr. Robert Roty and Dr. & Mrs. Fred Van Alstine at the Tango level, Dr. Paul Kuhlman & Dr. Kirk Rennick and Baker College of Owosso at the Mambo level and Advanced Air Technologies, Security Credit Union and Tender Care Home Healthcare at the Jitterbug level. DVDs of the event will be available for $20 by calling William Theobald at 810.955.7898. OCP and SAC are both 501(c)3 non-profit arts organizations. Proceeds from this event benefit OCP's Rebuild Campaign and SAC's Education Fund.
