SAC's 35th Anniversary Gala was a Rousing Success
The SAC's 35th Anniversary Gala was a great success due to the
many business and individuals that participated in the event. The Gala
was held at the former Woodard homes now
owned by Jerry & Deb Gregoricka and Jim &
Samantha Stechschulte. In 1972 Dolly
Woodard co-founded the SAC and Deb
Gregoricka is currently president-elect of the
SAC. Both the Gregorickas and the
Stechschultes graciously opened their beautiful
homes for tours.
Local restaurants and caterers donated their
delicious food specialties: The Bake Shop,
Bob Evans, Celia's Corner Cafe, Courtside
Cafe, Eddie O'Flynns, Deb Gregoricka,
Mancino's Pizza & Grinders, Roma's Back
Door, Spagnuolo Chocolates, Applebee's Bar
& Grill and Main Beverage. An anonymous donor provided the music by The Delta
Rhythm Kings.
A silent auction with many items including a week at Frieseke's house in France and a
calendar raffle added to the festivities. Many thanks to the silent auction donors: Nick &
Julia Kilmer, Deb Fehrenbach, Arthur Johns, Cyril C. Gregoricka Families & Cummings Harley-Davidson, Rick & Michelle Rose, Douglas Thayer, Thomas Tomasek, The Village Hair Shoppe,
Powerhouse Gym & Fitness Center, Xavier, Tamar Aldrich, Jann Lardie, Cerveny Jewelers,
Diane Cutler, Karen Friday, Linda Hill, Dr. Albert A. Elsesser, Dutch Hollow Golf Club,
Capitol Bowl, Jennifer Janson and Owosso Community Players.
Many thanks to committee members: Chairperson, Deb Gregoricka, Samantha Stechschulte, Brian Bruff, Diane Cutler, Pam Early, Karen Friday, Sue Ludington, Michelle Rose and Piper Brewer. And thanks to Ludington Electric, Edwards Sign & Screen Printing and McLaren
Rent-It for their generous donations and to volunteers, Mike Bruff,
June Caponi, Pat Eickholt and Karen Kangas-Preston.
The Shiawassee Arts Council has come a long way since it began 35 years ago. From its start at Curwood Castle (1972-1989), 30 members and a handful of volunteers in 1972 to the renovated and expanded 6,000 sq.ft. Arts Center next to the Castle, 1,000+ members and nearly 300 volunteers in 2007. And from the Picture Lady Program to the Gallery on the Go art appreciation program. After sponsoring six Artrain visits and six Owosso ArtWalks, four Detroit Symphony concerts, three Michigan Opera Theatre performances, two major Frieseke exhibits, a National Shakespeare production, $50,000 in
countywide high school scholarship awards, dozens of artist exhibitions,
multi-media art classes and summer camps and much, much more, the SAC continures to grow and be meaningful to the community it serves.
During the past 35 years the SAC has remained true to its mission to provide
quality arts and cultural activities that educate, entertain and enhance the
quality of life in our community. With the support of its members, donors and volunteers like you the SAC continues to be a treasure in our mid-Michigan community. Thank you all for your participation and support over these past 35 years.
